Salary and Compensation

  • $6,298–$8,212/month
  • Monthly bonus pay based on assignment
    • 5% bonus in addition to base salary for Motorcycle, Helicopter Observer, Training Officer, K9 Handler, and Administrative Assignment.
    • 6.5% bonus in addition to base salary for Helicopter Pilot
    • 10% bonus in addition to base salary for Helicopter Pilot/Trainer
    • $175/month for bilingual pay
  • Uniform allowance of $1400/year
  • College tuition reimbursement program
  • P.O.S.T. Educational Incentive up to $650/month depending on qualifications

Retirement

  • 3.0% at 55 PERS retirement plan. The retirement plan is based on the following simple formula:

    Number of years served * 3.0% of your ending salary = your retirement salary

    For example, an Officer with 20 years of service at age 55 (or over) would be eligible for 60% of their salary (20 years * 3 = 60% of final salary):

    If the officer's ending salary was $100,000, this person would earn 60% of their $100,000, or $60,000 for the remainder of their life.

  • Voluntary 457 deferred compensation program to lower taxable income and help build retirement nest egg.
  • Retirement health savings plan. City contributes 1% of salary.

Scheduling and Leaves

  • 8 hours of sick leave per month
  • 3 day a week work schedule (12.5 hours per day)
  • 4 day work schedule for Administrative Assignments (10 hour days)
  • 106 hours per year of Holiday Leave
  • 80-160 hours per year of vacation depending on years of service

Retirement
